National Gallery of Victoria

Inside the National Gallery of Victoria, Federation Court is currently displaying Rock Melt by Jamie North. The six concrete columns appear to be slowly eroding and becoming overgrown by native plants including ferns and vines.

We spent a couple of hours wandering around Level 1 and Level 2 of NGV. The religious section has many fascinating works, from different materials such as this stained glass from 13th Century France...

Moses Bringing Down the Tables is an enormous mural that was purchased in 1872. It was packed away many years ago and has recently been unrolled, by conservators who are currently working to bring it back to life in an area visible to the public. During May you can watch the artists and their delicate live restoration of this massive piece.
