Maldon

Maldon
We chugged into town on a steam train from Castlemaine, arriving in the historic township of Maldon at lunch time. Some tasty baked goods were scoffed down and we went for a walk.

Maldon

Maldon
From gold rush beginnings to industrial mining fame with one of Victoria's richest quartz reefs, the town became much quieter in the early 1900's.
Thankfully, the town centre and its buildings retain their pioneer town feel to this day and a wander around up and down the main street will impress you with its architecture, beautiful old wrought iron, 'ghost signs' and gardens.
Maldon was declared Victoria's First Notable Town in 1966.
