After puffing along the tracks on the steam train from Maldon to Castlemaine, then back to Maldon, we decided to drive back to Castlemaine for a look at the Old Castlemaine Gaol.
The Gaol was closed at the time, and looked like it was set up for a function later that evening. We went for a wander around the outskirts of the building and had a peek through a few gates instead.
The prison closed in 1990, and has been used as a tourist attraction since. Hopefully, next time we visit, we will be able to go inside on a tour.
