From the Main St, the Sorrento Back Beach is only a short 1.5km walk, drive or cycle. Wooden steps at the carpark lead you to a variety of paths that will take you to the beach, the lookout or along the higher cliff tops.
Coppins Lookout has sweeping views across the rugged cliffs, down to the beaches and wild stretch of Bass Strait.
Sphinx Rock on the far right, juts out into the ocean. Rockpools are great for exploring and beach treasures can be found on the soft golden sand.
Native plants like Pigface brighten up the sand dunes with their vivid colours.
Back at the carpark, we bumped into the Bongo van (not literally - we were chatting to the driver, not exchanging insurance details :P). This little ecobike/bus/tuk tuk collects up to 6 passengers arriving from Queenscliff on the Sealink Ferry and takes them on a tour around Sorrento, before dropping them back at the pier.
Cool, huh!
